Afghan Army Kills 45 Taliban

Masri is reported to be Al-Qaeda’s commander in Afghanistan’s Kunar province and, according to some analysts, the leader of last summer’s plot to blow up 10 US airliners over the Atlantic.

The Afghan army and NATO forces have become very adept at springing ambushes, as the details of this encounter are not uncommon. The Taliban seem bereft of competent leadership, and the people performing these attacks are poorly trained. During the month of Ramadan the forces expect more attacks from the unholy warriors of the Taliban as occurred last year. From Breitbart:

Airstrikes and Afghan army gunfire killed more than 45 suspected Taliban fighters in a clash in a southern province just as the holy month of Ramadan began, the U.S.-led coalition said.

The battle in the southern province of Uruzgan on Wednesday began when insurgents attacked a joint Afghan army and U.S.-led coalition patrol with rocket-propelled grenades and gunfire, the coalition said in a statement late Wednesday.

Afghan soldiers “cleared” Taliban fighters from firing positions within the village of Aduzay, while attack aircraft destroyed some fighting positions, it said.

NATO’s International Security Assistance Force on Wednesday said insurgents increased attacks during Ramadan last year and that they could do the same this year.

“On the eve of the holy month of Ramadan, the enemies of Afghanistan have shown they will shun peaceful coexistence in favor of attacking government forces,” said Army Maj. Chris Belcher, a coalition spokesman. “Fortunately for the citizens of Afghanistan, the ANA (Afghan National Army) is improving their tactics.”

The coalition said no Afghan or coalition soldiers or civilians were wounded or killed.

3rd Al Qaeda Tape to be Released

Al Qaeda will issue yet another tape shortly, this one to feature the new leader of the Taliban in Afghanistan (we killed the last two,) and more commemoration and explanation of 9/11.

This is either a sign of desperation as the Taliban is having a hard time recruiting for Afghanistan, or it’s our 3rd warning of another attack. It’s traditional in Islam to ask your opponent to convert 3 times before you attack. Story at ADNKronos:

Dubai, 12 Sept. (AKI) – Al-Qaeda will release a third video to mark the sixth anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, according to postings on Islamist websites on the Internet on Wednesday.

The websites said that the video will be entitled, “The two expeditions to New York and Washington, causes and motives”, and is expected to be a documentary which will explain the reasons why the terrorist group carried out the attacks on 11 September 2001 in the United States that killed close to 3,000 people.

On the other hand, maybe it’s just an attempt to establish relevancy now that 25% of America thinks that 9/11 was a plot perpetrated by our government.

September Morn

Six years ago I walked into mission control at work just like every other day, stopping by to check if there were any large technical issues that needed resolving. Dave was staring at the bank of televisions above the rows of 20 monitors that kept track of the call centers we actively watch all the time.

Normally one screen would be the weather channel, the other a news feed, and the other an alarm panel with rows and rows of Automated Call Distributor (ACD) switch status’ on them, red, green, yellow. This morning two of the screens were showing the same thing — a smoking tower etched against blue sky with smoke streaming. I asked Dave what was up — he said “Some idiot just flew a plane into a building.”  Continue reading “September Morn”

Land of Confusion

So here’s a word to our foes: We might seem a noisy land of confusion, but beyond the hype and the glare of the media lies the firm, resolute core of America. We are not confused and we know the enemy – we will not stop, we will not fail, and we will never forget nor forgive that day six years agone tomorrow.

Today we watched our Miltary torn down and attacked by our politicians, the foreign government we are trying to aid undermined by pundits, and the sure signs of victory spit upon over politics. It must make the entire world think us mad and that we truly are the land of confusion.

Six years ago tomorrow the worst terrorist attack in our history will be remembered – our flags will fly at half mast, and memorials will take place. WE will all remember.

Nawaz Arrested and Deported

As Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif did try to have the constitution ammended to give himself dictatorial powers.
As Prime Minister he armed, funded, and fed the Taliban.
As Prime Minister he enacted laws that made the Amahdi sect “Non-Muslim”.
He is tightly tied to Jamaat Islameyah, the Islamist association within Pakistan (think of JI as the Moose or Masonic lodge for Madraassah students.)
Yesterday the political party of the Taliban, the MMA, endorsed him.
Yesterday a threat letter went out to all National Assembly members from the Taliban stating that if they voted for Musharraf as President that they and their families would be subject to suicide bomber attacks.

Nawaz Sharif was arrested almost as soon as he landed on corruption charges from a sugar mill he used to money-launder while he was prime-minister. He’s once again in Saudi Arabia, running a campaign from afar. Story at UK Telegraph:

Nawaz Sharif, the former prime minister of Pakistan, has been deported to Saudi Arabia within hours of his much-anticipated return from exile.
He was arrested in relation to corruption charges on his arrival at Islamabad airport.
Four hours later he was put on a plane to Saudi Arabia, where he has spent most of the eight years since being deposed.
Mr Sharif arrived in the country vowing to topple the regime of President Pervez Musharraf. At least 2,000 of his supporters were arrested in advance of his return.
Armed police entered the Pakistan International Airlines jet on which he arrived from London after Mr Sharif refused to hand over his passport to officials on the plane.

The Convergence of the Left and Bin Laden

It’s not a joke anymore; for more on the strange convergence of Al Qaeda and the far left in America see Little Green Footballs, where Fox host John Gibson juxtaposes Bin Laden’s latest threats with Olberman’s rants. It’s educational to say the least.
