Nepal needs new leadership

Nepal is atop a peak sharply divided by light and dark, is it for them the dusk or the dawn of the day? The easy path of accomodating evil by a little here, a little there, always leads downhill to the edge of a cliff above a bloody abbatoir. I have written here regarding the bloody dimmed legacy of communism last century, I hope the Nepalese do not choose the easy path.

Recently the seven party alliance in Nepal has bowed to pressure from the Maoists and made agreement to dissolve the house, a move that does not look good, but which also holds promise.

It’s a complex situation, both sides of the talks, Maoists, and Royalists, act as if they had the full writ of the people, but in reality the Nepalese in general are sickened by both. In this interim period Nepal bears close watching — Nepal should not put off the yoke of serfdom only to accept the shackles of communism. More here at Yahoo.

September Terror attack in New York foiled

The attack purportedly involved multple attackers infiltrating from Canada, catching a PATH train and then timing the explosion in the under-river tunnel in an attempt to flood below-ground portions of the financial district.

Joe Lieberman and Ned Lamont will hold their first televised debate tonight at 6:00 pm Central, and it will be carried on CSPAN. It might be interesting and educational to tune in.

More good news from Iraq, the terrorist roundups continue

Iraqi army forces raided a rural farmhouse southwest of Baghdad early July 3, capturing 14 members of an al Qaeda foreign fighter cell and killing a key terrorist facilitator.

From DOD news, this probably got missed by most over the weekend due to the NK events and Israel / HAMAS war.

Kim readies new Taepodong

Sometimes you have to question Kim’s sanity, he’s already solidified so much opposition with his earlier missle launches (7 all told, 1 Taepodong dud, 6 Scuds,) that he is certain to catch some reprecussions. Add to that his kidnapping, drug running, and counterfeiting operation and you soon realize this guy knows no bounds.

He’s the best advertisement I know of for an accelerated ABM program, and re-opening of the Strategic Defense initiative.

Conduct Unbecoming

I hope that Ehren Watada’s replacement survives the duty, and I hope when it’s over he goes to the cell that Watada will be in and spits in his face.

The Army has charged Ehren Watada*, the military poster child of the left, today. They levied three charges: Missing Movement, Contempt towards officials, and Conduct Unbecoming an officer. He could face several years in jail from this.

All Available Boats! exhibit open

Minutes after the first terrorist-hijacked jetliner hit the north tower, the Coast Guard base on Staten Island put out a call on the harbor maritime network: “All available boats!”

The biggest marine evacuation since Dunkirk took place from the docks of New York city on 9/11 and a new exhibit is open now at the Seamen’s Church Institute in lower Manhatten to commemorate the service of the Coast Guard, the harbor tugs, and all the boats of New York during the attack. The exhibit will only be up through 9/30, so please make plans to stop by if you are in the New York area.

In a sad state of affairs, Kim Il can’t keep his taepodong up, and his scuds were premature.  More from Gary Varvel, hat tip to Earth2Moonbat & Athos. Update 7/5: Kim shot off more short range scuds this morning. The news is putting out that it’s from an unknown site, but that’s not fact. We do know about the second site, but we aren’t monitoring it because it has only short to shy of mid-range scuds. Old news. The failure of the Taepodong’s first stage is a real blow to Kim’s plans to manufacture and sell more Taepodongs on the international arms “bad boy” network.

Independence Day 2006

The Shuttle launched successful, I recovered my blog, and tonight I have a buttload of fireworks to shoot off. The original Fourth of July Post from this am can be found here.

eagleflag.jpgThe Shuttle launched successful, I recovered my blog, and tonight I have a lot of fireworks to shoot off. The original Fourth of July Post from this am can be found here.

Things are chronologically out of order from the recovery, and there will be a couple of more odd posts today from the past just so I don’t loose them. Apologies!

In the city I live in it’s ok to buy fireworks, but illegal to set them off. My act of civil disobedience for the cause of freedom is now over with a beautiful display that made quite a mess. My lawn, roof, and drive are all wet down just in case the neighbors still performing civil disobedience land something over my way. Goodnite all, happy Independence day, and sleep well in the peace and strength of freedom.

Demons of the Modern World

I believe in neither gods nor devils, but if they exist then the Khmer Rouge were by demons driven. Always, for a few seconds after I read something like this, I wish that there were heavens and hells. For surely then these agrarian reformers would burn in hell forever if it were so.

_135476_Pile_of_skulls_and_bones_from_Cambodia_killing_fields1.jpgCambodia swore in the Jurists Monday for the start of trials against the leaders of the Khmer Rouge responsible for 2 million or more deaths in Cambodia in the 90’s. It’s telling that the western world can find the time to put Orianna Fallaci on trial, but has not the will to put murderous marxists on trial. This trial is fully funded by donations. Apparently Kofi Anan couldn’t afford any of the spare change out of the oil-for-food scandal to fund this.  Continue reading “Demons of the Modern World”
