Khatami On Trial in Iran

katami.jpgWhen Students Rule

A religious tribunal will by trying former president Khatami, a moderate as Iran goes, for shaking hands with a woman on a recent trip to Italy. The charges were brought by students, as is happening more frequently throughout the Islamic world. In the past when student movements that follow dark and evil ideologies are allowed to rule the outcome has never been good.

On the Road Again

Blogging is going to be spotty this week, I’m on the road awhile. I just watched my first installment of Dan Rather’s new show on HDnet, so far a loving tribute to the poor, misunderstood Zapatistas in Chiapas, Mexico. Lots of interviews with people wearing bandanas and masks with grievances against the government.

AQ/Taliban Camp Struck in North Waziristan

A missile or bomb strike has hit a Taliban training camp in North Waziristan, this comes pretty closely following Mansoor “baby” Dadullah’s release of a tape threatening the US and UK with suicide bomber attacks. Total casualties are unknown (28 killed, 10 casualties reported,) but an estimated 45 assorted foreign Al Qaeda and Taliban fighters were in the camp according to local sources. The missile strike comes because of coordinated efforts from intel sources in Waziristan, drones, and very effective missiles fired from Afghanistan.

Again I will point out that not only are the Taliban heavily infiltrated, but they are also warring amongst themselves for lead. It’s entirely possible that these AQAM forces were turned in  by rival forces.

Please stop by The Fourth Rail for the fullest report.  Also H/T to Ornery Elephant for dropping this by in comments.

Death Fatwah Update

The Lal Masjid Fatwah calling for the death of the editors, publishers, and staff of Octane is still out there, and eventually some idiot will act on it. What are they upset about? This advertisement, which appeared in other magazines as well without the Fatwah. The text on the Ad said:

adam-and-eve.jpgAdam and Eve
The apple the bone of contention.

The fool Abdul Aziz from Lal Masjid calls it blasphemy, and unlike the other crazy Fatwahs recently (breast feeding, etc,) this one has real potential to cause real harm to real people. While the Pakistanis raised quite a ruckus over restrictions in the press from PEMRA, it remains to be seen what they will say about this. Regardless, both are sinister attempts to strangle freedom, just from different sources.

Lal Masjid Issues Death Fatwah Against OCTANE Staff

octane-december-cover.jpgA Death Fatwah has been issued by the insane mullah of Lal Masjid against the staff of Octane. What’s Octane? It’s a progressive, modern fashion magazine in Pakistan. The only issue I could find online is the December ’06 one, which was a special issue on Women’s Rights. It’s no wonder that the miscreant, medieval, mullah from Lal Masjid would want to repress this magazine. It represents the modern world, carrying as it does slick ads for DSL, Bollywood movie ads, and mobile phone ads. What was their great Sin?

Pakistan Update

daddullah-damned-2.jpgThe Taliban’s decline into stupidity becomes more obvious every day, as you can see from a few incidents in Pakistan. The quality of their recruits is terrible, it’s seems they can’t even attack women’s schools anymore.

In Mardan a terrorist attempted to bomb an embroidery school after sending a threatening letter that the women should wear veils. Unfortunately the miscreant must have been out in the sun too long or heat dazed, because the grenade went off in his hand as he was climbing the wall.

Google Ads a Bust…

The Times online has an article on Google’s advertising power which details Ebay’s pull of their ads. I can personally attest that not many folks hit those ads.

I’ve been running adsense in the sidebar a month and a half to see if I could earn enough cash to increase the bandwidth here, since I’m pulling in a couple thousand visitors or more a month now. Last month I earned a whopping $0.54 …. so — Google you can keep the check, thanks, and since I never liked the look of the ad strips, goodby adsense.

Moonbat Delusions

radarsat-2.jpgAt Space Review James Oberg provides some Canadian Moonbat fiskage, and Taylor Dinerman details Biden’s debate blooper on Iran. It turns out there isn’t a way to stop a missle on the pad if you don’t know about it and can’t find it.

There’s also a link to an Islamist forum in the Oberg article where they are worried about “Rods From God“, which aren’t near reality yet and don’t appear to be in the near future.

There is intense interest in the technology from the tyrants of the world since it would provide capabilities to hit hardened targets in-depth without resorting to nuclear weapons. Indeed with hundreds of successive hits you could turn Natanz into a new volcano if you wished and alas, if only the capability were real.  Since it’s mentioned here however I will get hits from Tehran, Beijing, and North Korea even though my blog is blocked to the general public in those countries.

What’s Crossing?

hamasrafahborder.jpgWith most Hamas actions there is an overt, and a covert component. The last couple of days we’ve seen the brutality of HAMAS, and that’s the overt action. What’s happening behind the scenes, and why do they want to control the border crossing to Egypt? What is scheduled to cross? See LGF thread.
