Hillary’s Friends

hillary.jpgjinnah_ar.jpgA bit more research on Rehman “Ray” Jinnah reveals that he was chair of the Pakistani American Link Committee, and they have a few friends in congress besides Hillary Clinton and Nancy Pelosi. Rehman returned to America to face his indictment for illegal campaign contributions a few weeks back, and interestingly enough, not a peep’s been heard in the press since. Here’s the Sourcewatch details of the known contributions, and a snip from a past article. PKK Attack After Ceasefire

PKK terrorists attacked in Turkey today, killing two soldiers. It’s not surprising that they would break the just declared “cease-fire” since terrorist groups by definition have neither honor nor discipline, and can’t taken for their word.

FIRE Protects Speech on Campus

In a strange twist of intent yesterday’s agitators for “free Speech” and “student’s rights” on campus’ across the country have become oppressors of both today. They do this through policies of non-offensiveness and Multiculturalism, but it’s all a guise as speech deemed Conservative or Libertarian is liable to be muzzled in modern universities. In America you have the right to be stupid or offensive, ala the Nazis who marched in Skokie, but you also have the right to bring up controversial topics for open and intelligent discussion — the left fears the latter more than the former.

Virginia Postrel has a post up about FIRE, The Foundation for Individual Rights in Education, that fights against Wakademic censorship. Please stop by for a read.

Lakki Marwat Gives Ultimatum to the Taliban

The Taliban have been holding hostages from Lakki Marwat in Pakistan since the feud that started when they rudely tried to force extreme shariat on a wedding party. A tribal Jirga of Elders has met, and given a deadline to the Taliban to release the hostages, and it looks like they will once again take action with or without the government.

tank-ghost-town.jpgThe Taliban have taken over the region, and the once vibrant market street of Tank is now a deserted and destroyed shell. Note that the article below paints the miscreants as “wannabe Taliban”, however leadership within the Taliban is so fractured right now that the difference between “wannabe” and real is faint if it exists at all.

In the United States, Flag Day (more formally, National Flag Day) is celebrated on June 14. It commemorates the adoption of the flag of the United States, which happened that day by resolution of the Second Continental Congress in 1777.

In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson issued a proclamation that officially established June 14 as Flag Day; in August 1949, National Flag Day was established by an Act of Congress. — From Wikipedia

Memorial to the Victims of Communism

Gateway Pundit has good coverage of the memorial dedicated to the victims of communism today in Washington. It’s a statue of the replica of our Statue of Liberty that students took to Tianamen Square, the statue crushed in the massacre on 6/4 1989. LA times article here. History of mass murdering regimes here.  (*Warning: don’t follow this last link if you are weak of spirit or constitution.) It’s fitting that the Memorial was dedicated on the anniversary of president Ronald Reagan’s “Tear Down This Wall!” speech.
