Universes Spawning Ever bright

A new cosomological model has been created by researchers at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In the new model, there is no big bang, the universe and time does not stop, but instead they spawn endlessly into new universes. The new model takes into account Dark Energy, and the potential of the “Big Rip” at the turnaround.

This is exciting news, and I’d like to take this opportunity to just say no to entropy! 🙂

To The Ends of the Earth

A friend, a light, and a voice for liberty has passed on. Aussiegirl, Author and Editor of Ultima Thule died of cancer that could not be stopped. She was inspirational to me and many others; demonstrating time and again that Science and Religion are not mutually exclusive. She will be missed, and I only hope that some kind soul will care for her site so that her words and wisdom live on for those still here.

Will To Win

My Dad sent this, worth posting:

What happened to our will to win? Where did our patience go? Why do we have to wait so long for victory?

For the Season

A hearty thank you for the volunteers in North Pole Alaska who keep the replies from Santa’s elves coming. If you ever make it up to Fairbanks, Alaska, the short detour to visit North Pole and Santa Clause house is well worth it.

Jeanne Kirkpatrick RIP

kirkpatrick.jpgJeanne Kirkpatrick, Ambassador to the UN, and one of the most prominent Reagan Democrats, has passed. The Great Lady has gone on, and we will all surely miss her principled reasoned approach to world problems.

Jeanne promoted liberty and perseverance at one of the darker times in America, when the Soviet Union was quietly darkening the face of the globe with world Communism.

This from her 1984 address to the Republican Convention:

The American people know that it’s dangerous to blame ourselves for terrible problems that we did not cause.

They understand just as the distinguished French writer, Jean Francois Revel, understands the dangers of endless self- criticism and self-denigration.

He wrote: “Clearly, a civilization that feels guilty for everything it is and does will lack the energy and conviction to defend itself.”

Bill Roggio In Iraq

Bill Roggio arrived in Iraq Sunday, and begins his series of embed reports from there, please stop by The Fourth Rail regularly to see real updates from the front. In this first report we see that more WMD have steadily been destroyed, and ignored by the MSM.

He also reports that the military in Iraq are not to fond of the press, and details the “I’m not really with them” conversations he has to have to get the soldiers to really open up.

His first stops were Fallujah, and he’s going to head to Ramadi I believe.

I’d have linked yesterday, but I am an infrequent reader of email, so apologies go out to Bill.

I Fly US Airways

The Imams who created the fuss by deliberately provoking a response from the passengers and airlines are instituting a boycott. Since I respect airlines that think of passenger safety first and cultural sensitivities second, I will be flying US Airways at all opportunities in the future.

Women’s Protection Bill is Law in Pakistan

burntbus.jpgPresident Perez Musharraf of Pakistan has signed into law the Women’s Protection bill, which created a spate of demonstrations by the radical anti government MMA. The MMA is the party that vocally supports the Taliban and extremist sharia views in Pakistan, so it it natural that they would demonstrate against the bill.

Many of the MMA have been arrested, but they will continue to agitate, even though this bill is popular with the majority of the population in Pakistan, as seen in numerous online forums. This bill has diminished the effectiveness and the power of the MMA, and is probably one reason that the Taliban has cracked down on news in the NorthWest Frontier Provinces. Many Pakistani’s are now speaking out against Mullahs, and Mullahs and the vested interests that finance them are the backbone of the MMA.

Bin Laden and Chitral

There’s been much speculation that Osama Bin Laden is or was hiding in Chitral, and many articles written about it. As I pointed out in earlier posts here, Chitral’s not a place he would stay for any length of time. However, the press keeps coming back to Chitral perhaps because it’s the only town in the hinterlands of Pakistan that they know the name of.

The Chitralis are a bit upset about this, and the Chitral News has printed articles regarding the misconceptions of the western press (trust me good people of Chitral - your town is not the only thing the press has many misperceptions about.)
