I have a Bracelet Too….

What an utter slime .. “I have a bracelet too.” Then he had to look at his wrist to remember the name, and it was probably given him by a Cindy Sheehan camp follower.

Also note that Obama has been using this bracelet at Rallies since last Fenruary, the fact that he still can’t remember the soldier’s name without looking tells you a lot. See Here. [h/t to leftist commentor Peter who encouraged me to dig this up.]

Update: Family doesn’t want Barack bringing bracelet up
UPDATE: Now on Front Page at LGF
UPDATE: Ed at Hot Air wants more confirmation on the familie’s stance, I agree.
Another debate follow up:  Henry Kissinger has already chimed in and said that Obama mischaracterized his statements during the debate.
UPDATE: Ryan Jopek’s Mother supports Obama’s statement during the debate, however she had previously requested he not use it for the campaign or in speeches.

  1. Yeah, you bastard… the name on that bracelet means so much to you that you had to LOOK AT THE NAME BECAUSE YOU COULDN’T EVEN REMEMBER IT! This was in direct contrast to McCain who knew it without cheating like he was taking a school history test.

    Nobama is scum

  2. The reason that McCain had that name at the tip of his tongue is that he has trotted out this story dozens, if not hundreds of times in his campaign – each time with the same theatrics (such as they were). Obama, on the other hand (so to speak) had a bracelet from a gold-star mother and never used it as a political prop – until tonight. He KNEW that McCain would whip out his bracelet and his rehearsed schtick, and Obama was ready for him (albeit, he stumbled on the name).

While McCain said that he wanted to make sure that the soldier did not die in vain, Obama countered that NO SOLDIER DIES IN VAIN if he/she dies following the order of the Commander in Chief. He then went on to say that the CIC should use much better judgment when sending soldiers to their deaths – the kind of judgment that apparently neither Bush or McCain have, given their ill-advised adventure into Iraq when Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11 and that ALL of our resources should have been directed at Al-Qaeda not Sadaam Hussein who had NOTHING to do with 9/11. Obama said that he told the mother that he promised to exercise a higher standard of judgment when sending troops to war. If I were a mother (I am a father of a 19 year old son) that is the message that I would want to hear. I would not want to hear that my son died looking for non-existent WMDs while bin Landen is thumbing his nose at us from Afghanistan with our economy in the tank, party because of the massive debt incurred by a ridiculous war in Iraq.

Basically, Obama punked McCain on that one…

  3. I think Obama knew the name, he was just a little nervous about using a dead soldier’s name as a political prop. Something McCain has no problem with, I guess.

McCain’s crowd loves that gimmick of his. But it could have backfired for Obama. The next week in news will tell, I guess.

  4. I think you are both full of it, and the post debate polls running 2/3rds for McCain winning the debate show that the American people see through Obama’s vapidness. It was an Obama attempt at a gotcha that blew the hell up in his face.

Nice job on the spin control, very well written; but it won’t work .

  5. Peter ,

“Autobiographical Listening is the sign of a true Punk .”

I think Obama did a great job of Autobiographically listening to McCains story than this little example .

It’s inescapable that his : “Me Too ” move was just that , and nothing more .

The fact that Obama kept saying that John McCain was absolutely right should disturb you even more about Obamas falsity and Hubris….If you were not listening to the debate in an autobiographical fashion yourself.

Of course I hope you keep in mind what the difference is when a soldier dies in vain , or when one sacrifices his life for love and freedom , and remember to count with the soldiers who died serving under Hitler , especially the ones who served so well by gassing and exterminating millions of innocent people before they met their fate.

These Nazis didn’t die in vain , they actually deserved to die because of the destruction they wreaked on humanity .

SO there is a big difference here you refuse to see.

Your twisted Logic stinks Peter .. A sign of typical Liberal mental incapacitance to deal with fact , and a show of avoidance of the truth surrounding this global war on terror , a war that was initially declared against Us by the intolerant ones.

  6. Here just as an extra added bonus , Obama repeats throughout the debate that John McCain is absolutely Right , with the Final count: 9 different times

    On spending cuts:

“Well, I think Senator McCain’s absolutely right that we need more responsibility, but we need it not just when there’s a crisis.”

    On spending cuts II:

“Not willing to give up the need to do it but there may be individual components that we can’t do. But John is right we have to make cuts. We right now give $15 billion every year as subsidies to private insurers under the Medicare system. Doesn’t work any better through the private insurers. They just skim off $15 billion.”

    On earmarks:

“Well, Senator McCain is absolutely right that the earmarks process has been abused, which is why I suspended any requests for my home state, whether it was for senior centers or what have you, until we cleaned it up.”

    On lobbyists:

“He’s also right that oftentimes lobbyists and special interests are the ones that are introducing these kinds of requests, although that wasn’t the case with me.”

On business taxes being too high:

“Now, John mentioned the fact that business taxes on paper are high in this country, and he’s absolutely right.”

On violence in Iraq going down:

“Senator McCain is absolutely right that the violence has been reduced as a consequence of the extraordinary sacrifice of our troops and our military families.”

On POTUS needing to use prudent language: (but added after the McCain bomb, bomb Iran gaffe)

“And, John, I — you’re absolutely right that presidents have to be prudent in what they say.”

    On Iraq being “difficult”:

“Now, Senator McCain is also right that it’s difficult. This is not an easy situation.”

On not tolerating Iran having nukes:

“Senator McCain is absolutely right, we cannot tolerate a nuclear Iran.”

Count em , did I miss any ?

  7. NICE POST! The bracelet sure means a lot to Obama, huh!

  10. If you care to view the clip, McCain looks at his wrist too. He’s just more practiced at exploiting this gimmick. Obama’s “I have a bracelet too” response is a joke, of which McCain cracked a few as well. Don’t you guys have any sense of humor about this at all? they are both politicians, beating around the bush, trying to sell their platform and appeal to the highest number of people possible without actually answering the questions. Think! every one of those questions could have been answered in 25 words or less. They both slither, it’s what politicians do. At least Obama was willing to admit that he agreed with McCain on a couple points. I say, way to go. What this country needs is cooperation, not everyone disagreeing simply on principle because they are different parties. If that’s what you guys want, why don’t we just divide up into two different countries right now? It’s not that hard to open your mind a bit. I support Obama because I agree with his policies. But I don’t call McCain slimy, jealous, petulent, or a senile old fogie. He’s not, and I can accept that and even agree with some of the things he says. He’s a politician, just like Obama. So if you disagree with Obama, fine. Don’t be an asshole about it.

  11. Also, if you’ve ever spoken in public, you know that it’s easy to stumble over words. And if you’re looking to criticize someone for stumbling over a name, how about that time when McCain couldn’t pronounce Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and referred to Asif Ali Zardari as Qadari.

  12. Oh thats just Great Dave ,

You are supporting Obama , and We’re All Happy for you .

I’m sure you will have many years of enjoyment supporting a guy who falsley touts a memorial bracelet that he’s been expressley asked not to wear by the Parents of the Dead Soldier who’s name is inscribed upon it .

See, we are all laughing , and this is my sense of humour , so let’s start laughing together about the fact that Obama obtained a bracelet from a Mother who was actually upset with his anti Surge policy , and only wanted him to know the name of her Son since she beleived implementing Obamas anti war policy would mean that he had died in Iraq in vain .

Old cold and callous Obama decides it might just be a neat trick to use that Bracelet as a campaign prop during a debate .

Let’s go to scene two of this little skit shall we ?

In the Words of Paul Harvey , You’ll Find , “The Rest fo the Story” , over at Newsbusters.org .

    Follow this link : http://newsbusters.org/blogs/warner-todd-huston/2008/09/28/family-told-obama-not-wear-soldier-sons-bracelet-where-media

Obama’s use of this soldier that fell in the line of duty is tainted by his ambition and callousness. And the media is letting him get away with it.

Now theres a laugh for you …..
