Star Wars Works

President Reagans’ dream of an America secure from Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (ICBMs) made another step towards becoming reality today in a successful test of mid-flight interception – something critics in the 80’s said couldn’t be done.

From AP:

An intercontinental ballistic missile interceptor blasted out of an underground silo at Vandenberg Air Force Base shortly after 1:15 p.m., and tracked a target missile that had lifted off from the Kodiak Launch Complex in Alaska, the Boeing Co. said in a statement.

The Missile Defense Agency said initial results show the interceptor’s rocket motor system and kill vehicle performed as planned. Boeing said the warhead was tracked, intercepted and destroyed.

Boeing is the prime contractor for what is formally known as the Ground-Based Midcourse Defense system

If you were wondering why Dan Rather is doing hit-pieces on Boeing on the little watched HDNET, here’s another reason.

  1. Come to think of it, President Ronald Reagan had a LOT of dreams come true that no one thought, ever would. I certainly hope these intercepting missiles will never have to be used but if they are, I hope the first interceptor to effectively bring down an ICBM has the words, “Love From, The Gipper” painted on its side.

  2. Hi,

This is Firas of iHeartAmman Blog.
    http://www.iheartamman.blogspot.com

On LGF you have described me as a ” horribly conflicted blogger”
    http://littlegreenfootballs.com/weblog/?entry=27279#c0204
Registrations are closed on LGF for the moment. I would have loved discussing the matter there.
I just wish to know why you think I’m horribly conflicted and what made my post like that? I hope to clear things up and ready for any debate
I do not see how my post is related to the issue of changing schools culture. This is a whole different issue.

Yeah, I was not pimping any ads, these were simply some spam since I don’t restrict any form of comments on my blog and do not bother deleting every single spam I get since I don’t get many considering my mediocre blog traffic.

If you don’t wish to discuss it here, my email is : offtherecordblog(a@t)yahoo.com

    Thanks,
    – Firas

  3. Hello Firas,
I meant it in a humorous, not hurtful way. I misread because it looks like someone put an ad for air jordans in right above your comment, I thought you had (my eyesight is not so good.). So hopefully you are not angry, I do like your blog.

Also the link from LGF usually gets you good traffic too.

  4. Oh no not at all,no need to say sorry.
I was never hurt or angry. I just wanted to clarify things up.
Yeah it’s getting me some traffic, but traffic has been always my least concern.

I’ll be keeping an eye on your blog, but that SUPPORT RUDY ad does not look promising 😀

    Thanks for your clarification.

  5.
Yes, I know – but in the US we don’t want to elect someone who is going to ignore terror again, so there you have it.

After re-reading my comment at LGF, an apology is called for since I didn’t specify what you were conflicted over — it’s the same feeling I get sometimes at Christmas. When I was a child at Christmas we got little paper calendars wth windows you would pull open, one for each day as you neared the holiday. Behind the windows were little scenes and you could hold them up to the light — one of those means more at Christmas than all of the lights, although I do enjoy the lights.
