The leader of al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb, Abdelmalek Drudkel sent a letter to the command in the Sahara in which he urged to hinder the ongoing contacts between public authorities and the commander of the Sahara region for Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb, Mokhtar Belmokhtar alias Laaouar, according to well-informed security sources.

In the wilaya (province) of Biskra (South Algiers), a meeting was held in May by eminent commands and personalities dissident from the Salafist Group for Preaching and Combat (GSPC) who are still led by Belmokhtar, say the same sources.

According to security sources, the meeting came up with results through which the commands of al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb consider shifting from “classical armed acts” to carry out attacks based on digital system.

According to Drudkel’s letter,a technique of bombs activated by remote control is to be adopted using CD-ROMs, say the same sources.

More on this here as well:

A repentant terrorist accompanied the Algerian army forces in combing operation started on Thursday in a mountain so-called Haroure in the borders between Boumerdes (50 Km East Algiers) and Blida (West Algiers), said well-informed security sources.

The repentant terrorist identified 7 terrorists killed by the army forces in the combing operation, said the same sources.

According to the same sources, two submachine guns and automatic rifles were recovered.

The repentant terrorist told the security services there were 14 terrorists in the mountain of Haroure who worked on planning suicide bombings in south Algiers.

It’s worth recalling that the army started on June 21 large-scale combing operations of previous strongholds of the Armed Islamic Group (GIA) in Algiers.
