Obama’s Socialism

This is a reprise of an article I wrote back in July, at the time I thought I was a bit on the edge for coming out and openly declaring that Barack Obama is a socialist. Time and the facts have proven me right however in light of his call for billions of dollars for public service in the form of a “civilian defense force” [never mind that we have layers and layers of civilian agencies like the local police, the FBI, the state troopers, the county inspector, etc. etc.] and with his call for “sharing the wealth” coupled with tax increases and increases in social welfare spending by the government. The old article continues below:

Obama is clearly the most socialist candidate ever to win the nomination of a major political party in the United States. In Europe they love him because he matches the politicians that they are used to there. The concepts and proposals that he vaguely puts forth match those of the Euro parties of trade-unionists, elite socialists, technocrats, and populists whose alliance to Marxist principle varies by only faint shades in the reddish rainbow of European politics.

Months ago in political discussion with friends I mentioned that the word “justice” is used very often by Barack Obama, and in this century it’s shorthand for socialist policy. Since that policy is largely discredited they can’t call it socialism, which is why the Communist group “The World Can’t Wait” calls for political justice, social justice, just wages, just…. everything. They are joined in this chorus for justice by international ANSWER, but these really are the new faces of the Communist party in America.

But let’s get back to Barackian “justice,” is it somehow different? Not really if you look at his proposals, as IBD does in detail here.

Following this discredited Marxist model, he believes government must step in and redistribute pieces of the pie. That requires massive transfers of wealth through government taxing and spending, a return to the entitlement days of old.

Of course, Obama is too smart to try to smuggle such hoary collectivist garbage through the front door. He’s disguising the wealth transfers as “investments” — “to make America more competitive,” he says, or “that give us a fighting chance,” whatever that means.

Among his proposed “investments”:

• “Universal,” “guaranteed” health care.

• “Free” college tuition.

• “Universal national service” (a la Havana).

• “Universal 401(k)s” (in which the government would match contributions made by “low- and moderate-income families”).

• “Free” job training (even for criminals).

• “Wage insurance” (to supplement dislocated union workers’ old income levels).

• “Free” child care and “universal” preschool.

• More subsidized public housing.

• A fatter earned income tax credit for “working poor.”

• And even a Global Poverty Act that amounts to a Marshall Plan for the Third World, first and foremost Africa.

His new New Deal also guarantees a “living wage,” with a $10 minimum wage indexed to inflation; and “fair trade” and “fair labor practices,” with breaks for “patriot employers” who cow-tow to unions, and sticks for “nonpatriot” companies that don’t.

That’s just for starters — first-term stuff.

My friends thought that I was loopy when I connected Barack’s constant use of the word Justice and Marxism, and you might also — except WCW and ANSWER are both avowedly communist but trying to appear socialist. If you disbelieve just go to their web sites, or visit Zombietime.com where you can see photos of them selling communist literature and shirts, and expousing communist ideology and websites with their placards.

We defeated the USSR and put Communism on its back, but what’s the point if we give up freedom and capitalism now?

Obama Has had a Long Affection for Marxism

As previous posts here for the past months have pointed out, Social Justice, one of Barack’s favorite terms, are just code words for Marxism. He’s had a long affection for that ideology, as this article outlines well:

“To avoid being mistaken for a sellout, I chose my friends carefully,” the Democratic presidential candidate wrote in his memoir, “Dreams From My Father.” “The more politically active black students. The foreign students. The Chicanos. The Marxist professors and structural feminists.” — Barack Obama

Obama Calls for Marxist Re-Distribution of Wealth

In this segment from NPR radio Obama is debating the best means to Re-Distribute the wealth of America – he prefers legistlative; but only because the courts would not have a way to administer it. So, when you vote for president, and when you vote for your Congresscritters, please take this into account – are you electing a Socialist whose idea of change is to destroy the engine of American productivity?

This is a case where Obama clearly calls for those who produce more to provide for those who produce little — or classical Marxism. He maintains this stance even though that form of government caused the greatest of all human suffering time after time as it was practiced last century. There’s no future for Marxism in this country, to tread that path is to retreat to the failures of last century and that’s not change at all.

From each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs. – Karl Marx

Socialists in the US have recently even expanded Marxist ideology – they have taken the luxury of having trust, or good credit, and declared it a need by extending that to everyone, worthy or not, through the Community Reinvestment Act, Acorn, and Fannie Mae / Freddy Mac. They’ve decided as well that owning your own home is a need, rather than something earned.

Bill Whittle at NRO has much more on this, and says it much better than i right here.

UPDATE:

Another classic socialist and marxist technique is to indoctrinate children – here you can see them doing just that. To me it’s absolutely despicable to callously involve children in politics as the left is wont to do, it’s just another way to steal their childhood.

Obama’s Budget is a Giveaway Grab Bag; You Don’t Know What Will Come Out of It

We’ve already seen how Barack manages large programs, under the Annenberg Challenge with Bill Ayers he gave away a total of 150 million to gaggle of community activist groups to improve schools. Some of those groups were radical, but putting that aside a moment you can see that the vague “feel good” instead of results-oriented direction under Obama just created monumental waste with zero results. The other cities given these grants saw improvement, Chicago stands alone with zero improvement.

His proposed budget for the country should give everyone pause, especially with Annenberg as the only real executive track record to judge by. Traditional media has ignored this because of the Ayers weather underground terror connection and Marxist ideology, but it’s essential to examine Annenberg because it’s the only executive “achievement” that Barack Obama has. The MSM failure to examine the results and goals of Annenberg in detail is journalistic and moral bankruptcy.

The McCain-Palin campaign has critized his tax plans as welfare, so Barack’s campaign has come back and tweaked it to add a work requirement. (They will materialize things out of thin air as needed to get elected.) This comes from the New Hampshire Union Leader in reply:

“Facing criticism from John McCain that his tax plan constitutes ‘welfare,’ Barack Obama recently added a work requirement to one of his proposals. ‘They started saying this was welfare,’ said Obama adviser Austan Goolsbee. “So, just so they would absolutely not be able to say that, we decided that for the last two percent we’ll simply add a work requirement.’ …’When did this change? I’m just curious,’ an incredulous Holtz-Eakin asked Goolsbee. ‘About two weeks ago,’ replied Goolsbee, adding that when the proposal was announced in September 2007, 98 percent of its benefits went to workers.” – ABC News

“The bottom line is that Obama is not being honest about his tax and spending plans. It is impossible — impossible! — for him to finance his giveaways by taxing only those making $250,000 or more. He will have to raise taxes substantially on people making much, much less than that. If you think you are going to avoid a tax increase on Obama’s watch because you aren’t ‘rich,’ remember this: A government that arbitrarily picks $250,000 as a dividing line can, using the same purely political considerations, pick any number as a dividing line.” – New Hampshire Union Leader

Kudos to the NH Union Leader for pinning down the specifics on this, as we know Obama prefers to be vague — he puts forth sweeping general statements that sound good, and we are not supposed to question. Barack is running for president however, and it’s every journalist’s duty to question.

So once again you see that the Obama campaign is a weather vane moving in the wind, and as everyone knows you don’t need a weatherman to see which way the wind blows…

Rites of Spring

May is the month for Marxists, and you will see a plethora of demonstrations across the country and the world every spring. These usually culminate in mass marches in May, if they get funding from outside sources like George Soros or Hugo Chavez these marches can turn quite large as they did in 2006. This year I expect the marches to be rather muted and thin compared to 2006, because the funding that would normally go to these is most likely being redirected to candidates, I will let you guess which.
