Tug of War

Tug of War

Tug-of-WarKasey and Django fighting over a toy. Once Kasey gets it free the result is usually about five minutes of full tilt running around the backyard. Django tries to cut the circle most times because he has a hard time keeping up, but then Kasey just reverses field in a blink and suddenly the circle is rotating the other direction.

Tonight’s Moon

Tonight’s Moon

moon-070109

Here is tonight’s moon, I’ve got something set wrong on the camera that I can’t find, these are coming out a bit dimmer than they used to. I’ll fiddle about and find it eventually, most likely it’s average white balance or something like that.

Ok, I have the dimness thing figured out, the other night I was trying to photograph firefly traces, and set the AWB method / setting to shade. Fixed now.

Memorial Day Weekend Snow

Memorial Day Weekend Snow

cottonwood-snowWe have a neighbor with a bigass cottonwood tree, and every year we get cottonwood snowbanks in May. This was taken with my Canon and the telephoto lens set to 300mm, kind of a cheaty way to get a sorta macro photo without a macro lens… as always click on the thumbnail for the larger version, even the larger version is cropped and reduced to less than a quarter of the original resolution these great cameras can take.

Chewey Waiting for a French Fry

Chewey Waiting for a French Fry

Here’s a pic of Chewey waiting for a French fry at Sonic. This was taken with my “hideout cam”, a Sony DSC a bit older than the one shown in the link below. It takes great pics and slips in a pocket, glove box, or backpack side pocket easily due to its size and slim profile – there aren’t projections to snag on things when it’s flipped off.[amazon-product]B00153WWRK[/amazon-product]

Moon Through Clouds

Moon Through Clouds

moon-050809

Here’s tonight’s moon with thin clouds obscuring. The clouds were really pretty, and I would have liked to get them as well but could not because it would have taken a time exposure and they were moving too fast for that. I upped the output brightness and contrast so you can see the thin bands of cloud. Below is the updated and improved equivalent to the camera used along with the lens used. The resolution of the photo is greatly reduced for the website, and it’s cropped down to 1200 as all photos I post are.
